Fourth grade has been exploring new ways of writing, drawing and just simply illustrating their names. The village project is taking off quite nicely, with all the ins and outs of building, running and operating one. We made, pyramids, we translated our names into Egyptian hieroglyphics, and made name insects. What fun! Take a look.

First grade is a wonderful time in every child’s life. Their time in Art Class is special. They do many things, their imagination is stretched and fantasy engaged. We do projects that work their fine motor skills and test their attention to small details, and sometimes their patients. All in all, the time spent is fun, creative and very productive.

Grade 8 students in E+ are off to a really good and productive start this year! We are right on track with our spelling, grammar, comprehension, expression and reading skills, and on the way to master the many more aspects of the English language. In addition, we have started working from a wonderful new book for improving all English skills, from the Wordly Wise series which is interesting, educational and challenging, all at the same time. In reading, the 8th graders have joined Gulliver in his amazing adventures in the land of Lilliput, and have been working diligently on conquering this high-level reading book. All in all, it has been a very promising first trimester!

In our Spanish class, we finished strong. I am proud of all my students for coming so far this year! They continue to impress me with their range of vocabulary and grasp of basic grammar as they demonstrate by for example using adverbs of frequency or correctly conjugating verbs. The kids' understanding of our guest native teacher Sebastian as well as authentic material has increased. As their final project, the kids presented well-researched, beautiful posters and I am pleased that they obviously enjoy to learn not only the language but also about Hispanic culture. I wish them all the best as they continue this journey next year!

We had a rich and varied couple months in our Language Arts course. We read a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald and watched a movie based on it. We delved deeper into the vocabulary and style Fitzgerald used, compared the written work to its adaptation, critically analyzed the main themes in the story such as social expectations across the generations and wrote an essay on the topic of aging. The big accomplishment of this semester was finishing the Wordly Wise textbook. It contained some challenging vocabulary, but I was very pleased that Maia was able to grasp and actively use what we learned in both speaking and writing. The more relaxed schedule at the end of the year allowed us to explore interesting authentic material and we had a great time reading various articles, watching short documentaries, and then discussing and writing about them. Overall, it was a fun, productive year!

Since the last update fourth grade has shown a lot of talent and creativity. The projects were harder and harder as time went by and the students mastered them all. The projects became more challenging and patience demanding. Weaving with paper strips, class play sets and imagination stretching activities were just to mention a few. Their mothers received nice gifts for Mother’s Day, and the children helped the school by painting part of the jungle gym in the yard. Well done 4th grade!

Many projects were completed since our last update. Second grade modelled with clay, illustrated funny compound words and also drew clothes and people from the Renaissance Era. Our biggest project this part of the year, was building our 3D neighborhood. A lot of work and effort was placed into it. And as the pictures show the students even made a beach front for their homes and businesses. Well done! Enjoy the summer and see you in September.

First graders have been busy since our last update. Many projects and creations left their hands. The children designed their own shields, and let their creativity run with color strips of paper. We also found out some of their wishes by writing on the „Wish Fishes” and sending them swimming in The Lake of Wishes on the classroom window. They greeted spring with flowers and made paper pizzas learning the names of different shapes. They didn’t forget about their mothers, some nice gifts were given to them.
We close this year with many great memories and pieces of art.

In the second part of Jonathan Swift’s Gulliver’s Travels, the tables turn on our hero and he finds himself in a very large world. The students read about alll the adventures of this twisted situation and also how it ties into the political situation of the times. We looked at the movie to compare events and characters . They expanded their vocabulary with the weekly spelling tests, and we are happy to see the lessons end. The Grammar book also has been exhausted .
The students of 8th grade E+ are facing a well deserved and long summer vacation. Boys, well done!

This year our 3rd graders have met other children their own age from Regba School , West Galilee, Israel. They became Pen Pals and sent each other „get-to-know” cards. The exchange of cards was very exciting as we found out the hobbies of our friends.

We sent them a Channukah CD, and in return they greeted us in Hungarian, Hebrew and English for the holidays. We hope to hear from them soon.

The school’s birthday was a great opportunity to create something original, and unique to celebrate this special event. Play dough was the technique we applied and our creation was a true masterpiece. The winter scenery gave us a great chance to illustrate different aspects of this season. Fireworks, Unbelievable Dreams and decorating our initials were just a few things we did. The students illustrated and made character drawings on their reading from Judi’s class „Earthquake in the Early Morning”.
Spring is here, new and fresh adventures to illustrate and explore.

Great ideas and masterpieces surfaced.
We are trying to lure spring into showing up earlier, by making a more colorful and happier version of snowflakes, called springflakes. Hope it works.

Grade 6 English Plus class is doing remarkably well this academic year. We are right on track with the assigned program, and even have time to do extra-curricular English-related activities, such as browsing student newspapers and doing Power Point presentations as well as pairwork research on a topic of choice . The sixth graders have enjoyed reading '"BOY" and are currently enjoying learning about Roald Dahl's life and working on the timeline project. They are also getting ready to do independent research and do a presentation on their selected author or book. Funally, we are also planning to make a school newspaper which will contain world, local, and school news, as well as a sports, entertainment, comics and weather page. Good job, 6th grade!

This group continues to impress me with their readiness to learn, enthusiasm and curiosity. We welcomed two new students and they have already shown their autonomy in catching up with the rest. In the past month, the group had an opportunity to work with a teacher educated in Spain as well as continue conversation lessons once a week with our native teacher Sebastian Santos. We are expanding our range of vocabulary by working through BBC Spanish program once a week. This interactive video series is based on a continuous story; each week we learn new real-life conversational phrases in context and the children enjoy it greatly. In the coming weeks we will be reinforcing the new material: conjugation of regular verbs, telling time and speaking about position of objects in space. I'm sure we will have a great time in our Spanish class this second semester.
